Urgent Care

When should I go to the urgent care clinic?

At HAPPI Urgent Care, the practitioners treat most illnesses and non-life-threatening issues. If you’re suffering severe symptoms of a cold or you twisted your ankle during a fall, for example, you can get the care necessary in a timely manner.

Some of the most common issues addressed at urgent care include:

  • Fever and chills
  • Ear pain
  • Minor cuts
  • Pelvic pain
  • Sore throat
  • Hives or skin rashes
  • Dehydration
  • Sprains or strains
  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Burning during urination
  • Coughs and chest congestion
  • Respiratory issues, like wheezing

The practice sees patients of all ages, so whether your elderly parent had a slip-and-fall injury or your baby is fussy and tugging at their ear, the team is equipped to help.

What types of issues cannot be treated at urgent care?

If you’re experiencing an emergency, such as severe chest pain or a deep wound, head to the emergency room.

Other issues best addressed at a full emergency room facility include:

  • Infants younger than 6 months of age with a fever greater than 103 degrees
  • Stroke symptoms
  • Loss of consciousness and/or seizure
  • Severe burns
  • Open fractures
  • Pregnancy-related bleeding or complications
  • Any injury related to a car accident
  • Head injuries

If you’re not sure about where to take your specific medical problem, call the office to determine the best course of action.

The providers cannot perform annual check-ups or handle chronic medical conditions at HAPPI Urgent Care, but the staff is happy to offer these services during an appointment at the primary care location. In addition, they do not offer pain management at urgent care.

While most physicals are done at the primary care location, they can perform a last-minute sports physical at urgent care and complete your paperwork so you’re cleared to play.

Do I need a follow-up exam after an urgent care visit?

Yes, in many cases, it’s best to schedule a follow-up visit after an urgent care visit. Dr. Andrews may want to see you again to ensure you’re on the way to recovery. Depending on your particular illness or injury, she may ask you to return only if your symptoms worsen.

Follow-up appointments are usually scheduled within 7-10 days of your initial visit. Depending on your particular case, Dr. Andrews may request you come in for several additional visits over the following months.

If you’re in need of care for an acute medical issue and can’t wait for an appointment, head to HAPPI Urgent Care. Call in advance of your visit, if possible, for the most expedient care or book online.
